At the age of 16 Frank Joined the army "to learn to play the Pipes and to Wear a Kilt".
For nine years he travelled the world with The Scots Guards,playing in many countries including America, Australia and Hong Kong.
Whilst in the Army Frank was known as "The Dancing Bear" due to his love of and performances of The Highland Dancing.
On leaving the Army in 1979 he Joined Houghton-Le-Spring Pipeband and is currently the longest serving playing member (over 40 years).
During his time in Houghton-Le-Spring Pipeband Frank has played in Germany, France , Spain and Belgium.
